Stormvale, NC is a medium-sized (fictional) town with a population that generally hovers between 5,000-8,000. It's close to Jacksonville, NC, just outside the Croatan National Forest, and within spitting distance of the beach. If, of course, someone can spit a couple of miles. The funny thing is, Stormvale doesn't seem to show up on a lot of maps, and GPS tends to get a little wonky near it. It exists, it's there, people live there, but sometimes it's a little hard to find off the main drag - which is kind of a bitch when you're trying to get home and can't find your damn exit.
It's an unusual little town in a lot of ways. The residents who were born there tend to have some sort of unique ability, and even residents that moved there when they were younger develop a little something as well. Then there's the raptor zoo - and we don't mean birds. The weather that doesn't seem in step with the rest of the area. And the weird things that go down that are somehow perfectly normal to the residents - like that patch of talking vines, the two-headed squirrel colony, and the occasional lack of gravity in the gravel pit at the edge of town. Visitors are welcome, if they can find the place, though once they leave they tend to forget how very unusual the place was. The zoo was just a zoo, the weather was lovely, and the squirrel population was just adorable and completely normal.
